Boris Kodjoe, star of the TV series "Real Husbands of Hollywood", will team-up with Mike Bryan against Memphian Mark Goodfellow and Bob Bryan in a celebrity exhibition match during the 2014 U.S. National Indoor Tennis Championships at The Racquet Club of Memphis.
Prior to taking his talents to the bright lights of Hollywood, Kodjoe shined as a tennis star. Receiving a tennis scholarship to Virginia Commonwealth University, the Austrian-native amassed 75 career singles victories at VCU, a mark that ranks him in the top ten in school history. His 66 collegiate doubles victories stands as third in school history for doubles.
After graduating from college, Kodjoe became an instant model and TV/movie star landing roles in movies such as Love and Basketball, Brown Sugar, Surrogates, and in September of this year, Kodjoe will return to the Big Screen in the movie Addicted. In 2002, People Magazine named the star one of the "50 Most Beautiful People in the World".
Even with his success in Hollywood, Boris still possesses a passion for tennis and all sports. This passion landed him a spot as a guest host on the ESPN program First Take for the show's "Year in Review" special.
Personally, it was quite a year for Kodjoe in sports as he was present when his friend, playing partner, and tennis star Serena Williams captured the title at the U.S. Open.
On the other side of the net in the Stadium Court at The Racquet Club will be Memphian Mark Goodfellow and his partner, Bob Bryan. Mark is known around the city now for It's All Good Auto Sales and his avid support of local sports teams, but Goodfellow is also a former USTA National Tennis Champion.
Mark understands the importance of children becoming involved in tennis. For that reason, It's All Good Auto Sales will be the title sponsor of Kids Days at this year's professional tournament. Kids Days will run from Monday-Thursday during the tournament and will provide 2,000 Shelby County School Children a chance to watch professional tennis as well as lunch and a T-Shirt. The children have been receiving tennis instruction leading up to the event and are looking forward to attending now that they understand the game more.
